Really, Whole Foods?

Liz, Lori and I are planning an event for early June, and we’re trying to get our hands on compostable cups for serving wine. I found some on Staples.com, but the store near me doesn’t carry them. Bummer! Then, Lori suggested Whole Foods! Of course! How could I not have thought of them! So, I called my local Whole Foods to ask if they stocked compostable cups. Here is the email I ended up sending to their Customer Service after hanging up:

Hello There,

I called the Ponce de Leon store looking for compostable cups and napkins for an upcoming event. I wish I could say that my only disappointment was that you guys don’t carry them. The employee I spoke with did not even know what that meant! I am appalled that a company that tries to appear “green” would not be hip to a product like this. In case you also don’t know what a compostable cup is, here is an example at Staples. I know, funny that Staples is carrying products like this and Whole Foods isn’t. Maybe less funny and more appalling?

I guess I’ll be shopping there?

Take care,
Becky

Amazing! But good on Staples for carrying such a progressive product! I wanted to wait until Whole Foods got back to me before publishing this post, but it’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t heard a thing. Boo on you, Whole Foods!
