I couldn’t resist posting this super-rad dress made from used plastic grocery bags by Emily Berezin! She did such a fantastic job…I didn’t even realize what she made it from at first! It’s so inspiring!

Check out this amazing pincushion by artist Elsa Mora! Elsa named the doll Mitra and transformed her from trash into an awesome way to store her pins and a pair of scissors! I just love the details she added, like the eyebrows. You can learn Mitra’s story over at her blog.

Hub-Bub in Spartanburg, SC is throwing a Trashion Art show this Saturday from 7-9pm! A big thanks to my friend Leslie from The Green Wardrobe for the heads up! Here’s a little blurb about the show from their site:


TRASHION SHOW is not about trashy fashion but it is about fashion from trash. It is part of a larger Earth Day weekend event at The Showroom featuring a live music by the Antibodies, a runway show, judges and $250 in cash prizes. Admission is FREE!

I wish I could make it out there and hope someone else can and also take lots of pictures! I’m sticking around Atlanta this weekend, because I want to hit up NoPhest! Nophest is an awesome 3 day music festival in Reynoldstown, and this one is bigger than ever! They have multiple stages and tons of great bands! I’m super-excited!! If you’re planning to go, I highly recommend catching Nerd Parade on Saturday at 10pm on the ParkGrounds stage and Blanca Noche on Sunday at 5pm on the same stage. See you there??

How exciting! Annie makes all sorts of pet accessories and offers a $5 rebate if you recycle your old collar or leash with her! Here is probably my favorite bit from the interview:

I fill a need in my personal life through DIY measures and improve upon what the market currently provides. That means using sustainable materials whenever possible, offering grassroots recycling of collars and leashes, or using recycled fibers in modular pet beds. I’ve got my hate on for disposable technologies masked as convenience. I want to make it all last just a little longer!


How awesome is that? It always gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to see crafters, especially local crafters, creating sustainable, responsible, quality products. Go Annie!
